I spent the last few days in Omaha at the Beef Quality Summit put on by Beef Magazine. Sessions focused on if we are meeting the demand for quality beef and ethanol’s effect on the beef industry. Conferences like these are a great opportunity to check the pulse of the industry as well as network with other producers and industry professionals. It’s always hard to get away from the ranch, work, or in my case school. However, the lessons you learn and people you meet at these types of industry events are invaluable. That being said, I’d recommend that everyone take the time to travel to Reno for Beef Industry National Convention February 4-9. I’ve attended the convention twice, last year in Reno and 2004 in Phoenix when Iwas a Beef Ambassador. Both times, I’ve been floored by the quality of sessions and speakers. There’s no way to know what all goes on unless you to join the rush to Reno.
