Temple Grandin spoke at the K-State cattlemen’s day on Friday. While she focused on cattle handling facility design, she also had a message about promoting the beef industry. Grandin says when she searches for feedlot, beef or cattle on YouTube she finds videos posted by animal rights activists and non industry-related content. However, she doesn’t find a beef industry presence. In her mind, this is a missed opportunity to tell the production story. Grandin recommends that cattle producers make short videos on their ranches to post on YouTube. In the videos producers can talk about what they do for a living and the importance of American agriculture. This is a chance to counter the presence of negative information about agriculture on the Internet.
